"That's how it goes, you think you're on top of the world, and suddenly they spring Armageddon on you. The Great War, the Last Battle. Heaven versus Hell, three rounds, one Fall, no submission. And that'd be that. No more world. That's what the end of the world meant. No more world. Just endless Heaven or, depending who won, endless Hell."
It starts off with one, really bad day. There's a war on, you're doing your best to fight for whatever side you think you should be fighting for, for whatever reasons you think are good enough to be fighting for, and you've got this connection to the big man upstairs (or down, again, depending on the side), and you've got this absolute certainty that your orders are the right ones, that this is a good and necessary fight.
Sure, it's the end of the world, the total annihilation of all life on Earth, but thems the breaks. God has a plan, the Devil's in the details, and you're a good soldier.
Then... it all stops.
No more orders from Heaven. No more orders from Hell. The war is, apparently, over, you've just been demoted, and more importantly, everyone you've ever served with or fought against are in the same boat you are. No one's getting word from the big guys anymore. God's screening his calls, Satan's in the shower. No one knows what's going on.
The only things you're certain of are that you just got slammed into a human body that's probably not the one you would have picked if you'd had the choice in the matter and that you can't go home. Wherever home is.
The only people you can depend on these days just might be the guys you were trying to kill just a few months ago.
Welcome to Earth. Hope you can manage to survive the experience.
